Celeb Style: Au Naturel Beauty
In this age of social media and near-perfect selfies, it’s refreshing to find a few Hollywood stars that prefer to go au naturel… in the makeup sense, of course. Sure, full hair and makeup are glamorous on the red carpet but, in their everyday life, it’s great to know that celebrities are just like us… fresh-faced and all.
Best friends and Charlie’s Angels co-stars Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz have both seen their fair share of movie premieres and red carpets over the years. But in their downtime, these real-life best friends prefer nothing more than taking it easy. Describing this fresh-faced selfie to People magazine, Barrymore said: “We’d just come from a workout. We feel good. We’re not wearing any makeup, and we’re just girls being ourselves. And sometimes all makeup and beauty fun aside, it’s just about the raw, honest, post-workout look, you know? Just be you.” She did leave us with one beauty tip, however, albeit in the form of a hashtag. Drew captioned this picture #sunscreenalways. Sounds like great advice to us!
With her signature winged eyeliner and dramatic lashes, Adele’s stage makeup is truly a work of art. But when the songbird appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine totally free of makeup, she proved that she can pull of just about any look. Is there anything she can’t do?
Carefree Coffee Run
“On days where I don’t get primped and made up for my show, this is the real unglammed me… so nice to meet all of you!” that was the caption that Britney Spears posted describing her bare-faced appearance. “I call this my morning coffee at home look… if you don’t count the leftover mascara under my right eye…” she added. A woman after our own hearts!
A Lifestyle Choice
No makeup-free rundown would be complete without the woman who has committed to it full time. Alicia Keys has spent the past few years completely bare-faced and even created a movement in the process. The singer’s makeup artist Dotti revealed to W magazine that Keys is focused more on beauty as a holistic method of living.
“Alicia gets regular facials, does acupuncture, and she eats healthy and exercises,” she explained. “She knows you have to invest internally for your skin to look great externally. It’s also about how you process your energy. She comes from a very strong place and she comes from a very kind place. That in itself is super-important. But it’s about the choices she’s making and the products she’s using. It’s the work of a good team.”
To celebrate her 44th birthday, Gwyneth Paltrow posted this no-makeup selfie to Instagram back in 2016. Captioning the photo “embracing my past and future”, the actress further explained the meaning behind her shot to Allure. “I have been very inspired by the #nomakeup movement as the message behind it says, here I am, this is me. This is what I look like, this is where I am in time, and I embrace it.” And so say all of us!
